Doggy peee !!!

I have a friend who goes by the name Mandakini. (loyal reader of my blog, colleague in coming up with sidey cheesy promo concepts, dancing partner in drunken parties and telepathic companion who excels in matching my bullshit quotient). She wants a dog..and real bad...she found many cute ones, all which she almost wanted to take home but couldnt. I made this illustartion a long time ago..long before she said she found her dream dog.......but i have a feeling she will like this illustartion and see the humour and support the technique. This one is dedicated to her dream dog......which i would like to probably call "snoop dogg!" but i think she has other stubborn plans!

Shu che Shocolatery???

A friend of mine, non fussy eater types took me to a place close his side side of town and far way from my surrounding, auto budget area and taste.

So there we were at shocolatery....fancy as ahmedabad can get .....high heeled pumps walked in with suprisingly well fit trousers, english speaking, unlike amdavad amdavadis..(sorry for being so blatantly politically incorrect here...)

The place looked nice...good upholestry.....interesting details assigned to the cutlery and a fairly pleasing menu.

I ordered a Penne Pasta in a hot Italian tomato base and my friend ordered a salad..( yes...it suprised me too.I have been out with too many guy friends who tear their chicken apart and stuff their faces with kababs for me to take this sweet smiled boy as a voluntary vegetarian!)

I felt cheated about having to eat pasta that seemed like it was made by a tikka chef with bacha hua butter chicken gravy..and the only thing exotic or remotely exotic in the salad was olives...

Hard to want to shell out cash to eat something that u know ur khansama(cook) can cook better!

To wash out the aftertaste of this incredibly plain meal....we ordered a chocolate mousse going by the name of the restaraunt.....we ate a few spoonfulss, exchanged twisted expressions and complained about the lack of the alchoholy flavour.

The only good thing about (swanky) restaraunts in Ahmedbad is that you can eat a decent meal with dessert and all and still not feel ripped. Its a matter of great significance if your monthly income is coming from your dad's unwilling wallet!!

The drive back around the city and back to the institute...playing Rolling Stones on full boom volume and singing loud enough to scare the other motorists off the road was the best part of the evening!(like they say....save the best for the last!)

All in all....AVERAGE......is the verdict! I rest my case!

Amar rahe Amardeep hamara!!

Amardeep is this 9 tabled restaraunt which is situated at a 10 minute walk away from my institute, (NID).Amardeep has never been some place we have gone because we were craving for the food or the ambience or a quiet dinner or whatever. It has recieved a lot of "taken for granted" attitude from us ..since we go there with the selfish aim of just eating a full mean meal from starter to dessert at Rs 25/-..(u dont get a lot of that even in the third world anymore i guess..:))
I thik they feed us with this overwhelming maternl instinct...much like u never appreciate home food enough but u still eat a lot and u dont really give ur mum credit for it!!!
we went yesterday, a pack of 10 ravenous "US"!!!
"bhaiyya.......10 thali"
"bhaiyya...mujhe sukha roti..mera wala butter lagana....mere ko chaas..mujhe dahi.....kheer hain kya.....sabji kya hain..aur do sabzi..papad milega...thoda cheeni la do..daal bahut meetha hain etc etc etc etc." the list of instructions and requests is endless ......the food is fine...fills u up.....u walk out with bursting seams and burping friends.....
The people are nice. There is always a friendly smile and a very delightful crew who cater to the numerous calls and demands with the traditonal trademark rajasthani hospitality.
